Why the travel blog?

Welcome! My name is Sofie, and this is Sofie Goes, a travel blog home to my thoughts and reflections on a variety of adventures and the places I go. Travel and writing have been two of my greatest passions since as long as I can remember, so my younger self whose dream job was "explorer who writes about their travels" (the consistent answer year-after-year starting at age six) would be at least a little proud of this blog, I think.

The real impetus for Sofie Goes, however, was the unconventional decision my now husband Cam and I made to quit our jobs, get married, move out of our Atlanta apartment, and leave the country (all within a few weeks) to travel for four months in Southeast Asia and Australia. So, for now at least, this blog will be a place to update our friends and family on the adventures we get up to along the way– a collection of hopefully fun and refreshing travel stories from the perspective of two 20-somethings who wanted to take a break from adulting in a big way. If you're not a friend or a family member reading this, WELCOME! I'm not expecting to reach the masses, but it would be cool if we can inspire someone to just go for it like we did, whether that "it" is a 5-day trip to a new country or a months-long unemployed adventure.
